PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenshi Zuko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake VanVactor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zuko comes to the cage accompanied by Wu Tang- Hellz Wind Staff. VanVactor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Like a Pimp by David Banner. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Kenshi Zuko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake VanVactor!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanVactor throws a right hand that misses
and Zuko counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Zuko lands with a nice body punch.
Zuko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Zuko feints and as VanVactor raises his hands in defense, Zuko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Zuko trying to control but VanVactor is working from the bottom.
Zuko throws a big right hand that misses.
VanVactor looking for a sweep. Not yet VanVactor, not yet.

VanVactor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zuko defends well.

VanVactor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zuko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Zuko slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Zuko wants to pass the guard but VanVactor is keeping the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Kenshi Zuko wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
VanVactor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zuko was well out of range. Poor timing from VanVactor.

VanVactor missing with a left hand there. Zuko was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

VanVactor chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Zuko can pounce on him.

VanVactor shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zuko's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as VanVactor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

This has been an exciting period of action!

VanVactor landing with the ground and pound.
VanVactor throws a strike but Zuko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zuko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. VanVactor swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Zuko is keen to just control but VanVactor is a slippery customer.

Zuko moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from VanVactor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenshi Zuko dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

VanVactor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zuko keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of VanVactor's head.
Zuko looking to sit in guard and control but VanVactor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
VanVactor is pushing down on Zuko's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zuko is fighting to maintain full guard but VanVactor has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zuko tries to roll over but VanVactor keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kenshi Zuko will probably get the nod.
That's time! Zuko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


VanVactor looks to land a left hand but Zuko moved out of range nicely.

Kenshi Zuko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Zuko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Zuko manages to get an easy takedown there - catching VanVactor on his heels. He'll look to pass VanVactor's guard now, I'm sure.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jake VanVactor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now VanVactor is on top in guard.

Zuko is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

VanVactor lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Zuko!

Kenshi Zuko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

VanVactor looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Zuko is avoiding damage well.

VanVactor thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Zuko is looking for a sweep.

Kenshi Zuko showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Zuko has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
