Velazquez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Since the Flood- . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez looks to score with a jab to the body but Miranda is just out of range.
Velazquez works the jab nicely.
Juan Velazquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velazquez jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Miranda is defended easily by Velazquez.
Velazquez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Miranda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velazquez but Velazquez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Miranda backs away from a small jab... but Velazquez lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Miranda crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Velazquez with a spectacular finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Juan Velazquez! Juan Velazquez retains his welterweight title!
