Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Hobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovanni Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell Hobson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitchell Hobson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giovanni Pineda! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hobson forces Pineda back against the cage and clinches. Pineda tries to score a body lock takedown but Hobson shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Hobson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hobson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Hobson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pineda is one step ahead there. Hobson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Pineda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hobson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pineda on his heels. He'll look to pass Pineda's guard now, I'm sure. Pineda looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Pineda has his feet on Hobson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pineda gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Pineda looks gassed! Hobson stands up from Pineda's guard - Hobson perhaps looking for a knockout. Hobson has closed the distance and engaged Pineda in a clinch.
Hobson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hobson pushes Pineda up against the cage in a clinch. Hobson jumps guard and drags Pineda to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Hobson wants to sweep here but Pineda controlling him for the moment. Pineda prevents Hobson from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pineda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hobson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hobson wants to sweep but no luck. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pineda in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pineda wants to stand but Hobson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hobson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hobson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pineda off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Pineda tries to clinch but Hobson moves out of range. Hobson gets caught flat footed, as Pineda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobson pushes Pineda off and gets back to his feet.
Pineda throws a poor cross that misses
and Hobson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hobson. Hobson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Hobson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Pineda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hobson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Hobson clinches. Hobson pulls guard effortlessly. Pineda in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pineda throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pineda loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pineda throws an elbow that misses. Hobson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pineda's guard. Nice move by Hobson!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hobson stopping the sweep attempt from Pineda. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pineda wants to stand but Hobson is controlling the position. Hobson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hobson trying to control the position from guard on top but Pineda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hobson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hobson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Hobson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mitchell Hobson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pineda is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hobson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Pineda is trying to keep an underhook but Hobson manages to get the takedown into half guard. Hobson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Hobson works his way into full mount! Hobson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pineda is surviving well by controlling Hobson's body position as best he can. Hobson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Hobson get's back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pineda shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hobson pinned against the cage. Hobson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Pineda tries to clinch up and Hobson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pineda is breathing heavily. Hobson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hobson gets to his feet. Pineda looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Pineda tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hobson was well out of range. Poor timing from Pineda. Hobson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hobson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Hobson jumps into guard, dragging Pineda to the mat.
Pineda trying to move into half guard but instead Hobson has managed to sweep!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hobson throwing strikes but missing. Hobson advances position into side control! The referee asks Hobson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hobson prefers to stall for the moment though. Hobson looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pineda is avoiding damage well.
Mitchell Hobson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pineda is not content to let Hobson control the position. Pineda pushes Hobson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hobson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Pineda is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hobson connects with a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobson trying to control the position but Pineda is working away. Hobson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Pineda looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hobson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Pineda is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hobson lets go of the hold and Pineda can pop his arm back in it's socket.
