Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugo Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nappa Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones leaves Reyes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A big left from Jones misses.
Jones jabs Reyes to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jones throws a push kick but Reyes slaps the foot to one side.
Reyes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Reyes persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Reyes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hugo Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reyes keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Reyes shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Jones looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Jones misses with a looping left.
Jones lands a leg kick that knocks Reyes off balance momentarily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reyes shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.
Jones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

A punch combination from Reyes misses.
Jones fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Reyes has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Reyes is breathing heavily.
Jones throws a front kick aimed at Reyes's knee but Reyes avoids it well.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Nappa Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Reyes's head.
It looks like Hugo Reyes has been cut.
Jones misses with a body kick.
Nappa Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reyes blocks a head kick by Jones.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Reyes. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Reyes slips under a jab from Jones.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight stays on the outside here - Reyes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reyes.
Reyes shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reyes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Reyes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Reyes takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Reyes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A telegraphed right hand from Jones misses the target.
Reyes drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Reyes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Reyes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Reyes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jones tried to score with a low kick but Reyes checks it.

Reyes looking to score a takedown here. Jones is defending well but Reyes drives through and ends up in Jones's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Reyes stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Reyes has an Americana. Jones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Reyes is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Reyes hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Hugo Reyes!
