Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raita Kazama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Carter! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Carter with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kazama tries to reverse the position but Carter maintains control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Carter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kazama is now in Carter's guard. A big mistake from Carter there, giving up the dominant position! Kazama looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kazama avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kazama wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving. Kazama thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kazama drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kazama jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kazama! Carter with good strikes from the mount here! Kazama really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
BOOM! Carter connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kazama is rocked! Kazama is working to get back to half guard.
Oh Kazama is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Carter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carter postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kazama in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kazama to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Carter! Matt Carter really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Cutthroat logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
