Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Limon Portokalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Portokalov comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Breaking Benjamin-I Will Not Bow kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Limon Portokalov acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Mendez! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Limon Portokalov! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portokalov throws a looping overhand right but Mendez ducks down to avoid it. Portokalov misses with a left hand and Mendez counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Limon Portokalov has been cut. Mendez connects with a jab. Portokalov throws a body punch but Mendez moves out of range. Mendez slips a jab and a cross from Portokalov.
Mendez looks to land a combination but Portokalov avoids it well. Portokalov keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mendez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Portokalov on the side of the head. Mendez defending well as Portokalov loads up on a big left hand. Mendez with a jab. Portokalov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mendez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Mendez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Portokalov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mendez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That has opened up Limon Portokalov's cut even more. A momentary lapse in concentration from Portokalov enables Mendez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Portokalov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Mendez passes Portokalov's left leg - he's now in half guard. Portokalov tries to get to full guard but Mendez has control of the leg. Portokalov has hold of Mendez's hands but Mendez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez not doing much here.
Mendez trying to control the action but Portokalov is working from the bottom. Portokalov tries to roll over but Mendez keeps him under control. Mendez trying to pass the guard but Portokalov defending well.
Tony Mendez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Portokalov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Portokalov throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mendez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Portokalov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Portokalov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mendez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Mendez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Portokalov's calf. Portokalov looks gassed! Mendez lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Oooh a lovely combination from Mendez sends Portokalov down but not out. Mendez dives into side control looking to finish.
Portokalov is rocked! Mendez lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Portokalov! Mendez senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Portokalov out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tony Mendez! Tony Mendez retains his heavyweight title! After winning the bout, Tony Mendez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
