Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Roll Fizzlebeef! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Russo! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fizzlebeef uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Russo. Fizzlebeef lands with a cross. Fizzlebeef looks to land a left hand but Russo moved out of range nicely. Fizzlebeef misses with a straight right. A leg kick checked by Fizzlebeef. Fizzlebeef connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Russo throws the kick towards the body but Fizzlebeef avoids it. Russo throws a sloppy head kick and Fizzlebeef moves out of range easily. A jab from Russo misses. Fizzlebeef scores with a hook to the body. Russo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Fizzlebeef looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Russo blocks a jab. Fizzlebeef takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Russo walks into a jab. Fizzlebeef ducks under a wild hook from Russo. Russo misses with a head kick.
Russo lands a jab to the head.
Russo moves into range and connects with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fizzlebeef's corner calls for a 1-2. Fizzlebeef obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Russo throws a big shot that misses. A swing and a miss from Fizzlebeef. Ryan Russo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Russo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fizzlebeef manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Russo is looking to score with low kicks. Fizzlebeef moves out of range of the body kick from Russo.
Fizzlebeef shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fizzlebeef showed some decent athleticism there. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Fizzlebeef moves into full mount! Russo won't be happy about that! Russo is trying to escape the mount.
Russo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Fizzlebeef with shots to the head and body - Russo looks very uncomfortable down there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fizzlebeef pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Russo is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fizzlebeef postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Russo in real trouble here! The ref calls for Russo to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
