Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir comes to the cage accompanied by New Low - Middle Class Rut . Frank Mir has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir with a lazy takedown attempt
and Willis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Willis turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mir takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mir doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Willis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mir tries for a takedown but Willis circles away easily
and Willis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir is breathing heavily.
Willis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Willis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Willis lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Willis throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Mir stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Willis follows into mount!

That kick from Willis tenderised Mir's leg. Mir is trying to keep his angry face on.

Willis darts in and clinches Mir up against the cage.
Mir tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Willis smiles and moves away.
Mir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Willis can pounce on him.
Willis thuds his shin into the meat of Mir's side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mir is looking to break free of the clinch but Willis has double underhooks.
Mir is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Willis pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Willis has Mir pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Mir is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Willis - that's hurt Mir badly! Oh, another knee lands and Mir is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Mir doesn't seem to be complaining.
