6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mathurin Kerbouchard! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nash misses with a lunging right hand
and Kerbouchard counters with a takedown into side control. Nash can't do much from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nash is looking for a sweep. Nash is working hard here to advance position. Nash is trying to control Kerbouchard's posture but Kerbouchard avoids it. Nash is looking to reverse the position. Kerbouchard postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kerbouchard sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Nash is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Nash tries to buck Kerbouchard off but Kerbouchard is having none of it. Kerbouchard in side control, just content to control the action for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nash wants to control but Kerbouchard postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerbouchard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nash keeps working. Kerbouchard is trying to get an arm triangle but Nash is defending well. Nash looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kerbouchard is one step ahead there. Kerbouchard stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Nash has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Kerbouchard manages to get his head free but now Nash has transitioned to an armbar! Kerbouchard grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Nash! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brutus Nash! Brutus Nash really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Vitality logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
