Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Bordin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez comes to the cage accompanied by Yakety Sax. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Bordin! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez moves into the clinch. Fernandez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bordin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fernandez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bordin somewhat. Fernandez stuffs the takedown attempt from Bordin. Bordin gets slowly back to his feet. Fernandez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The fight moves into the clinch position. Bordin is working for takedown but Fernandez is calmly controlling the position for now. Jason Fernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Bordin. Fernandez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fernandez's corner calls for a 1-2. Fernandez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Bordin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fernandez feints a jab promting Bordin to slip. Fernandez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bordin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fernandez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fernandez rushes Bordin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Bordin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Fernandez is defending well. Fernandez breaks the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bordin tries to clinch but Fernandez is having none of it. Bordin moves to clinch but Fernandez breaks away and Fernandez moves into the clinch. Bordin jumps guard but Fernandez stands there with Bordin around his waist. Bordin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fernandez gets through Bordin's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Fernandez breaks the clinch.
Fernandez closes the distance and clinches. Fernandez manages to break the clinch.
Fernandez clinches. Bordin can't find room to land a body shot as Fernandez controls the action.

Fernandez has closed the distance and engaged Bordin in a clinch.
Fernandez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bordin tries to clinch but Fernandez is having none of it. Bordin tries to keep at a distance but Fernandez has taken the fight into the clinch. Fernandez stops a takedown attempt from Bordin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fernandez lands a hook that snaps the head of Bordin backwards. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fernandez lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bordin backwards. Fernandez lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Fernandez lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bordin or not. Fernandez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fernandez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bordin, pushing him back against the cage. Come on Fernandez - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Bordin tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Fernandez working some nice short punches in the clinch. Fernandez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Bordin takes an elbow to the forehead. Bordin tries for a takedown. No joy.
Fernandez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A punch combination from Fernandez misses. Bordin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Fernandez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Bordin looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. A short uppercut from Fernandez. A body shot lands from Fernandez.
Fernandez digs a right hand into Bordin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Bordin's gas tank. Bordin has Fernandez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fernandez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Fernandez lands a hook that snaps the head of Bordin backwards.
Bordin is rocked! Fernandez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fernandez clinches up with Bordin and pushes him back against the cage. Fernandez scores with a knee to the head.
Bordin is still on wobbly legs! Can Fernandez finish him? A quick uppercut on the inside from Fernandez. Fernandez has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Bordin - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Fernandez, and another! Bordin is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Jason Fernandez! Jason Fernandez took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
