Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kay Dot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Schillaci! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schillaci throws a leg kick that misses. Schillaci misses with a jab, cross combination.
Schillaci looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Dot fails with the takedown. Dot tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Schillaci gets a double leg takedown into Dot's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Schillaci postures up in Dot's guard and throws a big left but Dot blocks it. Dot avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Schillaci postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dot is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Schillaci, into his guard. Schillaci looks gassed! Schillaci keeping moving, preventing Dot from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dot passes Schillaci's left leg - he's now in half guard. Schillaci has one foot on Dot's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Dot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schillaci avoids it really well and circles away. Schillaci closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Schillaci misses with a head shot. Dot uses the momentum to regain guard. Dot has a closed guard, preventing Schillaci from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dot wants to stand up but Schillaci is controlling him. Schillaci wants to stand but Dot is controlling his posture from full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dot is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Dot working a defensive guard here.
Schillaci throwing strikes from guard but Dot blocks nicely. Dot wants to stand up but Schillaci is controlling him. Schillaci throws a strike but Dot rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dot trying to control but Schillaci is working from the bottom. Schillaci is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Dot tries to free his leg and advance position but Schillaci is retaining full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dot wants to control from the top but Schillaci keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Kay Dot wasn't doing enough on the ground. Dot shoots in for a double leg but Schillaci sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Schillaci dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Schillaci throws a right and a left that Dot avoids nicely. Schillaci slips a jab from Dot. Dot tries to score a power double leg takedown but Schillaci sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dot somewhat. Dot closes this distance looking for a takedown but Schillaci circles away. Schillaci will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Schillaci throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. David Schillaci seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schillaci clinches with his opponent.
Dot tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Schillaci jumps guard.
Dot is pushing down on Schillaci's leg trying to pass to half guard. Schillaci is fighting to maintain full guard but Dot has managed to sneak the leg through. Schillaci is breathing heavily. Dot passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Schillaci!
That's one minute gone in the round. Schillaci is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Dot trying to control but Schillaci is having none of it. Dot tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Dot is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Schillaci is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Schillaci flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Dot anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Schillaci and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Dot slips an arm under Schillaci chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Dot has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Dot is squeezing on Schillaci like an anaconda would it's prey. Schillaci fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kay Dot!
