Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Spades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shekan Weeonu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shekan Weeonu will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patrick Spades!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shekan Weeonu!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spades fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Spades swings for the body but Weeonu moves out of range.
Spades throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Weeonu tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Spades is in Weeonu's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weeonu can do anything to dispel that myth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Spades throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weeonu works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Weeonu thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Weeonu is trying to keep Spades in close.
Spades slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Weeonu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spades. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Spades in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Spades working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Spades has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Weeonu lands a nice hook to Spades's body. Spades takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Spades misses with a takedown
and Weeonu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Spades.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Spades. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Spades closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Weeonu controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Weeonu is trying to stand back up but Spades is controlling him
Weeonu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Spades scores with a couple of nice shots.
Weeonu is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spades wants to take a breather but Weeonu is having none of it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Spades seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Spades sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Weeonu defending well though.
Weeonu trying to control but Spades postures up.
Spades wants to free his trapped foot but Weeonu is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spades drops an elbow to the side of Weeonu's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Weeonu is looking for a sweep. Spades is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Spades thows a huge punch but Weeonu dodges it nicely.
Spades lands strikes from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spades working over Weeonu with some ground and pound. Weeonu looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Weeonu is not content to let Spades control the position.
Spades stops Weeonu from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spades throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Spades is trying to work for a kimura but Weeonu is defending well.
Spades tries to pass the half guard into mount. Weeonu knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Spades uses his free foot to push down on Weeonu's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Weeonu.
Spades landing shots from mount.
The referee warns Weeonu that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Spades scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Weeonu?
Weeonu takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Weeonu is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spades looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Weeonu covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
