Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Gilles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Chamberlain!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilles connects with a body shot that sends Chamberlain's belly button to the back.
Gilles just misses with a punch to the body.
Chamberlain looks for a takedown but Gilles sprawls well.

Chamberlain misses with a kick to the body.
Johnny Chamberlain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gilles stuns Chamberlain with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gilles slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Chamberlain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gilles is fending him off so far but Chamberlain persists. Nope, Gilles circles away and we're back to standing.

Gilles throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Chamberlain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chamberlain dives in and grabs Gilles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gilles pushes down on Chamberlain's head and hops out.

Chamberlain is trying desperately to land a takedown but Gilles is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Chamberlain.

Chamberlain shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gilles sprawls well. Gilles wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chamberlain gets slowly back to his feet.

and Gilles counters with a three punch combo that has Chamberlain backing up. Chamberlain nods at Gilles to acknowledge the strikes.

Chamberlain throws an off balance right hand
and Gilles counters with a nice uppercut.
Chamberlain doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gilles catches Chamberlain with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chamberlain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gilles's waist but Gilles gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chamberlain off to one side.
Gilles will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gilles swings for the body but Chamberlain moves out of range.
Chamberlain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A lazy left from Gilles finds it's target.
Gilles lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gilles.

Gilles throws a nice looking combination but Chamberlain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Chamberlain might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Gilles has got the better of the exchanges.

Chamberlain is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gilles is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gilles has escaped and now he's on top!

Chamberlain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gilles as he avoids it easily.

Chamberlain shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Chamberlain takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Chamberlain shoots in but no luck this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gilles stalks Chamberlain and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Chamberlain's face. Chamberlain staggers backwards, shaken.
Johnny Chamberlain has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chamberlain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gilles is fending him off so far but Chamberlain persists. Nope, Gilles circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gilles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mark Gilles decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
