Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Demian Maia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randolph Swartz! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swartz scores with a nice head shot. Maia loads up on a big right hand but Swartz slips the punch. Swartz just misses with a punch to the body.
Maia takes one on the button. Swartz fails to land with a series of punches.
Swartz bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Maia's head backwards. Swartz digs a good hook to Maia's body.
Randolph Swartz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swartz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Swartz works the jab nicely. Swartz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Swartz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Maia. A jab from Swartz does it's job there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Swartz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Maia on the side of the head.

Maia shoots in for a takedown but Swartz shows good takedown defense. Maia takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Maia ducks under a wild hook from Swartz. A looping hook to the body misses from Swartz. Maia does a little dance to reset his feet. Maia keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Swartz. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Swartz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Swartz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randolph Swartz dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Maia uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Swartz. Swartz scores with a hook. Maia shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Swartz lands a nice looking body shot.
Swartz looks to land a combination. Maia sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Maia takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Maia looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Swartz scores with a jab to the body. Swartz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Maia. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Swartz works the jab nicely. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Swartz throws a right hand that Maia ducks under and follows up with a left that Maia also avoids with ease. Swartz misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Maia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Swartz, as that shot connected.
Maia fails with a takedown attempt. Swartz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maia. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jab from Swartz. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randolph Swartz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Maia is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Swartz is just riding it out for now. Maia eventually gives up the hold. Maia is thwarting Swartz's attempts to control the position. Swartz manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swartz has his foot on Maia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maia works his way back into a safe position though. Swartz is trying to keep Maia in close.
Maia has gone for a leg lock! Swartz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maia's guard. Maia working for a triangle but Swartz defends it easily.
Swartz trying to control but Maia is working from the bottom. Maia throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Swartz escapes and throws Maia's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Swartz is trying to get an arm triangle but Maia is defending well. Swartz tries to move into full mount but can't pass Maia's legs. Swartz is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Swartz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maia has escaped the position, nice work there. Maia is trying to improve his position. Swartz wants to control but Maia is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maia tries to get back to half guard but can't. Maia looking for a sweep but Swartz has passed into full mount! Oh no! Maia is looking to get to half guard. The referee warns Maia that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Maia defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Swartz. Maia is squirming around, avoiding Swartz's attempts to control the action. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maia is looking to get to half guard. Demian Maia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Randolph Swartz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Swartz has hold of Maia's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maia manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that's the end of the fight! Randolph Swartz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Swartz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
