Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jet Steiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jet Steiner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Wood!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steiner moves into range and clinches up with Wood.
Wood wants to stall.

Steiner pulls Wood into guard.
Wood tries to stand but Steiner is controlling from the bottom.
Wood trying to control the position from guard on top but Steiner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Steiner is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Steiner gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Steiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Wood is retaining full guard.

Wood has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steiner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Steiner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Wood is retaining full guard.

Steiner slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Steiner looking to control but instead Wood has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Steiner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wood knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wood tries to escape but Steiner is in control.
Steiner tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wood's legs.
Steiner wants to take a breather but Wood manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Steiner.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wood keeping moving, preventing Steiner from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jet Steiner just wasn't active enough.
Steiner takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Steiner gets the takedown into side control.
Wood wants to control but Steiner postures up.
Wood is trying to improve his position.
Steiner scores with punches from side control.
Wood is trying to escape the position but Steiner is controlling the position.
Steiner is looking to take a break and control but Wood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wood manages to work his way to half guard, despite Steiner's best efforts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steiner with the ground and pound but Wood uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Steiner gets to his feet - Wood follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wood throws a leg kick but Steiner checks it.
Steiner stuffs the takedown.
Wood scores with a jab.
Wood swats away the attempt to clinch by Steiner.

Steiner darts in and clinches Wood up against the cage.
Wood tries a knee to the head but Steiner blocks it.

Steiner gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wood trying to keep a closed guard but Steiner is proving a slippery customer.
Wood can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Steiner controls the pace.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Steiner dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Steiner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wood to the ground. Steiner is now in Wood's guard.
Steiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Wood is retaining full guard.

Steiner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Wood rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steiner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wood misses with the combination.
Steiner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Wood manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Steiner looks to land a left hand but Wood moved out of range nicely.
Steiner misses with a head kick.
Wood doesn't manage to clinch there - Steiner circles away.
Wood throws a hook to the side of Steiner's head but Steiner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Steiner slips a jab and a cross from Wood.
Steiner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wood.

Wood tries to keep at a distance but Steiner has taken the fight into the clinch.

Steiner has clasped his hands together around Wood's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Steiner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Steiner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Steiner is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wood is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wood has escaped and now he's on top!

Jet Steiner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jeff Wood hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Wood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wood misses with a low kick.

Steiner throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Steiner wants to slow Wood down by chopping away at his legs.
Wood circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wood throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jet Steiner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wood scores with a three punch combo!

Steiner on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jet Steiner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Steiner clinches up with Wood and pushes him back against the cage.
Wood tries to stall but Steiner uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Wood tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Steiner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Steiner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wood throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steiner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Steiner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Steiner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Steiner is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Wood has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Steiner is looking to defend but Wood has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Steiner! Wood pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Steiner taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jeff Wood!
