The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kattanach fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Sponseller. Sponseller tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kattanach paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sponseller clinches up against the cage. Kattanach prevents the takedown attempt.
Sponseller lands a nice knee to the body. Sponseller scores a nice knee to the body.
Kattanach is breathing heavily. Sponseller lands a knee to the head.

Sponseller should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Kattanach drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kattanach wants to control from the top but Sponseller keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sponseller can do anything to dispel that myth. Kattanach stands up from Sponseller's guard - Kattanach perhaps looking for a knockout. Kattanach throws a series of punches but Sponseller avoids them all with ease. Kattanach fails with a takedown attempt. Sponseller is looking to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kattanach is stalling in the full guard. Sponseller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kattanach keeps the fight on the outside. Kattanach is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Jay Sponseller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Kellie Kattanach's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sponseller takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Kattanach successfully pulls guard.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sponseller works his way back into a safe position though.

Kattanach has a closed guard, preventing Sponseller from standing up. Sponseller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kattanach is trying to keep Sponseller in close.
Kattanach is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sponseller dives into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sponseller tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. You can see the frustration on Kattanach's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sponseller misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sponseller lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kattanach's sensitive parts. Sponseller tries to clinch but Kattanach moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sponseller moves in looking to clinch but Kattanach pushes him off. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kattanach. Sponseller closes the distance and clinches. Kattanach misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kattanach is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sponseller pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kellie Kattanach. That's going to take a lot out of him. Knees in the clinch landing for Sponseller.

Kattanach manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Kattanach can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sponseller controls the pace. Kattanach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sponseller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sponseller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Sponseller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Sponseller winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
