Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fanicas Sagorro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fanicas Sagorro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fanicas Sagorro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Clay!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay closes the distance and clinches up with Sagorro, looking for a takedown. Clay pushes Sagorro against the cage but Sagorro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Clay shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sagorro sprawls well. Sagorro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Clay gets slowly back to his feet.
Sagorro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Clay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sagorro instigates a clinch.
Clay is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Fanicas Sagorro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Clay.

Sagorro gets control of Clay's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sagorro will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Clay is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but Sagorro is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alex Clay.
Clay tries for a takedown but Sagorro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Clay shoots in for a takedown but Sagorro shows good takedown defense.
Clay shoots in looking for a takedown. Sagorro tries to sprawl out of it but Clay keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sagorro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sagorro throws a sloppy head kick and Clay moves out of range easily.

Clay scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sagorro wants to control but Clay is keeping busy.

Clay is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Clay not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Clay is keen to just control but Sagorro is a slippery customer.

Sagorro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Clay pulls his head out easily.
Clay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sagorro keeps working.
Sagorro trying to hold on to Clay's head to control him but Clay postures up.
Clay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sagorro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Clay wants to pass to mount but Sagorro is defending the position.
Clay is looking to take a break and control but Sagorro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alex Clay.
Clay slaps away a takedown attempt from Sagorro, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sagorro as he avoids it easily.

Sagorro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Sagorro takes the fight into the clinch.
Sagorro stalling against the cage.
Sagorro is breathing heavily.
Clay has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sagorro after a bit of a struggle.

Sagorro drags the fight down to the ground.
Clay's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Clay trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Clay controls from within his opponent's guard.
Clay trying to control the position from guard on top but Sagorro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Alex Clay has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Sagorro stuffs the takedown attempt from Clay. Clay gets slowly back to his feet.

Clay looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sagorro looking for a sweep. Not yet Sagorro, not yet.
Sagorro keeping full guard, as Clay tries to pass.
Clay looking to sit in guard and control but Sagorro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Clay is looking to sweep but instead, Sagorro has passed into half guard.
Clay is trying to maintain the position but Sagorro is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Clay dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Sagorro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Clay to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Clay trying to control the position from guard on top but Sagorro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sagorro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sagorro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Clay won't allow Sagorro to sweep him here.

Clay looking to improve position, pressing down on Sagorro's thigh with his hand. Sagorro seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Clay paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Clay's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Sagorro picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Fanicas Sagorro!
