The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pickton misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Pickton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pickton manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Pickton's guard.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Pickton is retaining full guard.
Pickton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pickton!
Jones lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones cracks Pickton with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jones loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Pickton scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Jones land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Jones stands and salutes the crowd.
