Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ignat Kaigorodov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tweek Sanguine! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaigorodov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Sanguine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Sanguine looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kaigorodov with a flurry of punches that miss. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kaigorodov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanguine works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kaigorodov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanguine on the ground. Sanguine is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kaigorodov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kaigorodov looking to pass the guard. Sanguine utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Kaigorodov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Sanguine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kaigorodov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sanguine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sanguine's back! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanguine breaks Kaigorodov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanguine is working Kaigorodov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Sanguine lands a couple of elbows. Sanguine controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sanguine slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kaigorodov is looking to reverse the position. Kaigorodov is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanguine scoring with punches and elbows. Sanguine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sanguine in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kaigorodov is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
