Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aj Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Landry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aj Alexander! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Landry moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Alexander closes this distance looking for a takedown but Landry circles away. Landry gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alexander to score an easy takedown into full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Landry is looking to stand up but Alexander isn't so interested in that idea. Landry seems keen to control Alexander's posture. Alexander prevents Landry from getting back to his feet. Landry controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Landry just wasn't active enough. Landry misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alexander.
Nice takedown defense from Alexander. No joy for Landry on that attempt. Alexander looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Landry! Alexander jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Landry manages to avoid the submission attempt. Alexander looks gassed! Landry is trying to buck Alexander off. Landry is trying to control Alexander's posture but Alexander avoids it. Landry stops Alexander from passing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Landry tries to bench press Alexander off him but Alexander keeps the position. Alexander trying to control the position but Landry is working away. Landry is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Landry trying to hold on to Alexander's head to control him but Alexander postures up.
Alexander is looking to take a break and control but Landry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry wants to get back to full guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Landry gets back to full guard.
Alexander tries to free his leg and advance position but Landry is retaining full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Landry holds on and takes a little breather. Alexander trying to control but Landry is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aj Alexander has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Landry scoring well with a low kick there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Alexander fails with a takedown attempt. Landry misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alexander looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Landry sizes up Alexander with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A punch combination from Landry misses. Landry clinches with his opponent.

Alexander uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Landry. Landry shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Landry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Landry wants a takedown.
Alexander has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Landry is trying to keep an underhook but Alexander manages to get the takedown into half guard. Alexander trying to pass the guard but Landry defending well. Alexander is working for a kimura but Landry is defending it quite comfortably.

Landry has closed the distance and engaged Alexander in a clinch.
Alexander is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Landry pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Landry landing strikes. Landry has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. This has been an exciting period of action! Landry has taken the fight to the clinch.

and Landry makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Landry looks to land a right hand but Alexander moved out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry misses with a hook. Alexander ducked under it nicely. Jake Landry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Landry fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Landry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Landry misses with a looping right. Alexander moves in looking to clinch but Landry pushes him off. Alexander scores with a nice body kick.
Landry drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Landry keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Alexander's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alexander is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Landry won't allow Alexander to sweep him here. Alexander is looking for a triangle but Landry pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Landry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Landry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Landry drops back looking for a leg! Alexander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alexander manages to kick Landry off! Landry jumps back into Alexander's guard. Alexander working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Landry has passed into half guard!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Landry lands with a punch from half guard. Landry is working for a submission of some sort.

Landry tries to avoid it but Alexander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Landry to the ground. Landry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Landry moves into the clinch. Landry jumps guard but Alexander stands there with Landry around his waist. Landry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Alexander unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alexander takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alexander is trying to maintain a safe position but Landry gets an underhook and turns Alexander into the cage. Alexander breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Landry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Landry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Landry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alexander slips a jab and a cross from Landry.
Alexander thumps Landry with a low kick. Landry misses with a series of wild punches.
Landry moves into the clinch successfully.

Landry clinches up with Alexander and pushes him back against the cage. Landry gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Alexander regains guard.
Alexander tries to land a sweep but no joy. Landry distracts Alexander with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Landry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alexander works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Landry tries to free his leg and advance position but Alexander is retaining full guard. Alexander working for a triangle but Landry defends it easily.
Alexander wants to stand and escape but Landry is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry forces his way into half guard. Landry wants to free his trapped foot but Alexander is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jake Landry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alexander is trying to control but can't.
Alexander regains full guard. Nicely done. Landry sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alexander's guard. Landry is thwarting Alexander's attempts to control the position. Alexander is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Landry is staying active.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander wants to get back to full guard. Jake Landry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Landry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alexander keeps working. Alexander is looking to improve his position.
