These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Metaxa. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Metaxa.
Metaxa avoids a kick to the body.
Jokinen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Metaxa throws a wild body kick that Jokinen sees coming a mile off.
Metaxa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Metaxa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jokinen counters with a nice uppercut.
Jokinen scores with a leg kick.
Metaxa stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jokinen.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Metaxa shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jokinen eats them both and turns towards Metaxa to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Metaxa throws a body punch but Jokinen moves out of range.
Jokinen throws the left hand but Metaxa avoids the punch easily.
Metaxa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jokinen.
Martin Metaxa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jokinen closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Jokinen lands a nice hook to Metaxa's body. Metaxa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Metaxa is looking to clinch but Jokinen is avoiding it.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Jokinen.
Jokinen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jokinen. Metaxa does a little dance to reset his feet.
Metaxa tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Jokinen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jokinen is looking to wear down Metaxa with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jokinen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Metaxa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Metaxa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Metaxa's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Metaxa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Jokinen lands a hook that snaps the head of Metaxa backwards.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jokinen manages to pull guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jokinen is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Metaxa has his hands clasped together but Jokinen extends an breaks Metaxa's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jokinen.
