Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shaun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Lennon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun's entrance music is The Soviettes - "#1 Is Number Two". A fine choice. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Christopher Lennon enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Shaun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Christopher Lennon!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaun closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lennon looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lennon is looking for a sweep.

Shaun has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Shaun has closed the distance and engaged Lennon in a clinch.
Shaun lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Shaun with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Shaun lands a shot to the body.
Shaun lands a nice knee to the body.

Shaun manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Shaun has his foot on Lennon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lennon works his way back into a safe position though.

Shaun is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Shaun takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Shaun lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Shaun misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lennon.
Lennon throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Shaun landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Shaun wants the takedown. Lennon is fighting it off but Shaun persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lennon's guard against the cage.
Lennon striking off his back but it's not causing Shaun any problems.

Shaun stands up and waves to Lennon to follow him.
Shaun tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lennon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shaun looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Shaun counters by clinching up.

Shaun ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shaun no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lennon trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lennon drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shaun dives on top into guard.

Shaun decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lennon, up you get!

Shaun drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Shaun stands up from Lennon's guard - Shaun perhaps looking for a knockout.
Shaun with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lennon to score with a decent uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lennon throws a head kick that misses

and Shaun counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lennon!

Shaun stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Lennon fails with the takedown

and Shaun moves into the clinch.
Shaun lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Shaun has Lennon pressed against the cage.
Lennon tries for a takedown but Shaun manages to get underhooks.
Mark Shaun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Lennon.
Shaun landing knees to the body.
Lennon is trying to break free.
Lennon is trying to break the clinch but Shaun has him pressed against the cage.

Lennon pulls Shaun into guard.
Shaun passes Lennon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lennon is trying to get back to full guard.
Shaun throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lennon tries to get to full guard but Shaun has control of the leg.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shaun seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Lennon is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mark Shaun!
