PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Berger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noam Devitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devitt tries to close the distance and clinch up but Berger swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Berger wants to clinch.

Devitt closes the distance and pushes Berger back into the cage.
Devitt is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Devitt goes for a takedown attempt but Berger pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Berger tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Devitt's elbow.
Berger lands an elbow inside that Devitt shrugs off.
Berger misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Devitt.
Devitt is trying to force a seperation but Berger has the dominant position.
Devitt should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Berger struggles to land a body shot inside as Devitt controls his hands.
Devitt jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Berger walks away with a smile on his face. Devitt gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Paddy Berger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Noam Devitt.
Devitt throws a head kick but Berger moves out of range.
Devitt shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Berger defends it nicely.

Devitt manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Berger on his heels. He'll look to pass Berger's guard now, I'm sure.

Devitt decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Berger, up you get!

Devitt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Berger is fending him off so far but Devitt persists. Nope, Berger circles away and we're back to standing.
Berger tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Devitt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Berger lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Devitt has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Devitt and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paddy Berger wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Devitt swats away the attempt to clinch by Berger.

Berger throws a big shot that misses.
Berger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Devitt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Devitt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Devitt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Berger wants to sweep here but Devitt controlling him for the moment.

Berger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Devitt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Devitt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Devitt breaks from Berger's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Devitt lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Berger is squirming around, avoiding Devitt's attempts to control the action.
The referee warns Berger that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Devitt postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Berger in real trouble here! The ref calls for Berger to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
