Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Manny Horowitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timur Rod!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rod tries to clinch up.
Horowitz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Horowitz ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Rod tries to move into range but Horowitz moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Rod avoids the body shot from Horowitz.
Horowitz thows a body shot but no joy.
Horowitz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Horowitz scores with a decent looking hook.
Rod takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Horowitz stuffs the takedown attempt from Rod. Rod gets slowly back to his feet.
Horowitz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rod looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rod uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Horowitz.
Rod keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Horowitz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Horowitz with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Rod tries for a takedown but Horowitz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Horowitz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Horowitz lands a nice shot to the body.
Horowitz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rod at a distance.
Horowitz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rod stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rod moves into the clinch successfully.
Horowitz working hard to break the clinch.
Rod decides to pull guard.
Rod looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rod is looking to sinch up a triangle. Horowitz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rod's body to avoid the submission. Rod has instead reached around Horowitz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rod arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Timur Rod!
