PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abe Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gomer Pyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pyle is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Marines' Hymn. Abe Goldman could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Gomer Pyle's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abe Goldman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gomer Pyle!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Pyle.
Pyle throws a head kick but Goldman moves out of range.
Pyle misses with a two punch combination.
Goldman throws an overhand right that lands on Pyle's shoulder, as Pyle tries to avoid the shot.
Pyle swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Goldman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pyle's knee momentarily.
Goldman throws a poor cross that misses
letting Pyle counter with a right hand.
Pyle on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Pyle fails to land with a series of punches.
Pyle goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pyle. Goldman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pyle looks to land a combination but Goldman avoids it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A jab lands there for Goldman.
Gomer Pyle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Goldman lands a left and a right that sends Pyle crashing to the canvas! Goldman dives into mount looking to finish!


Pyle is rocked!
Pyle can't escape the position.
Pyle is still in real trouble! Can Goldman finish him?
Pyle seems to have recovered his senses.

Pyle regains half guard.
Goldman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pyle trying to get back to full guard but Goldman takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Pyle is squirming around, avoiding Goldman's attempts to control the action.

Goldman avoids the attempt from Pyle to control.
Pyle is trying to escape the mount.
Goldman controlling his opponent.
Pyle tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Goldman controlling the position easily from mount.
Goldman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pyle is looking to escape.
Goldman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Pyle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Goldman!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Abe Goldman will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pyle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Goldman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Goldman checks a leg kick.
Pyle throws a low kick, looking for Goldman's leg but Goldman calmly moves out of range.
Pyle thows a body shot but no joy.
Pyle misses with a wild body shot.

Goldman moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Pyle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Goldman.
Goldman swinging wildly here.

Goldman gets caught napping as Pyle dives in and scores a takedown. Goldman manages to retain guard.
Pyle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Pyle wants to hold on but Goldman pushes him away.

Goldman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pyle is looking to escape.

Goldman avoids the attempt from Pyle to control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Goldman misses with a looping left.
Pyle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Goldman loads up on a big right hand but Pyle slips the punch.
Pyle takes a swing at Goldman's ribcage but misses.
Goldman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Goldman slips a jab and a cross from Pyle.
The fighters circling - Goldman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Goldman looks to throw the jab but Pyle is out of range.
Goldman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Goldman avoids the body shot from Pyle.
A big right from Pyle misses.
Goldman clobbers Pyle with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Pyle looks to score with a jab to the body but Goldman is just out of range.
Goldman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pyle was well out of range. Poor timing from Goldman.
Good exchange - Goldman coming out on top.
Pyle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Goldman's waist but Goldman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pyle off to one side.

Pyle throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Goldman takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Pyle throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pyle throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Goldman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Pyle throws a low kick but Goldman moves out of range easily.
Pyle throws a lazy uppercut
and Goldman counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pyle's knee momentarily.
Goldman jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Abe Goldman is winning the standup battle so far.
Pyle throws a big shot that misses.
Pyle with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Goldman slaps away a takedown attempt from Pyle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pyle slips a jab from Goldman.
Nice body punch from Pyle.
Pyle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goldman.
Goldman waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pyle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pyle moves out of range as Goldman strikes.
Pyle digs a good body shot into Goldman's ribs.
Pyle lands an overhand right.

Goldman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pyle misses with a double jab
and Pyle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A chopping leg kick lands by Pyle.
Goldman tries to score with a low kick but Pyle moves his leg out of the way.
Pyle throws a sloppy body shot
and Goldman counters with a stiff right hand.
Pyle misses with a wild body shot.
Pyle closes the distance and clinches up with Goldman, looking for a takedown. Pyle pushes Goldman against the cage but Goldman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Abe Goldman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gomer Pyle.
Pyle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Goldman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pyle is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Goldman rather than just go for the knockout.
Pyle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pyle fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pyle throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Goldman counters with an inside leg kick.
Gomer Pyle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pyle throws a sloppy head kick and Goldman moves out of range easily.
Goldman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pyle has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Goldman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Goldman catches Pyle napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Pyle to the canvas!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Goldman is looking to stand up but Pyle won't let him.
Goldman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pyle's guard.

Goldman is trying to control. Pyle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goldman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pyle won't allow Goldman to pass to mount.

Pyle actively working from the bottom here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Goldman moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Pyle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abe Goldman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Goldman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
