Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Nikolaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Konovalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konovalov has chosen CJClip - No reason to live but we do it as his entrance music. Andrey Konovalov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vladimir Nikolaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrey Konovalov! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nikolaev on the wrong end of a nice jab. Konovalov gets the takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Nikolaev is trying to improve his position. Nikolaev prevents Konovalov from moving into mount. Nikolaev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Konovalov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Konovalov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Konovalov moves into full mount! Nikolaev is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Konovalov trying to control but Nikolaev is having none of it. Nikolaev is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Konovalov is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nikolaev is surviving well by controlling Konovalov's body position as best he can. Konovalov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Konovalov wants to finish this one by submission but Nikolaev is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Konovalov. Konovalov throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nikolaev is in all sorts of trouble here.
Konovalov controlling the pace for now. Nikolaev really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Konovalov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nikolaev is squirming around, avoiding Konovalov's attempts to control the action. Nikolaev bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Konovalov is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Nikolaev frees his head nicely. Oh but Konovalov has switched to an armbar! Nikolaev is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
