The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya moves away from the strike by Gerard.
Gerard checks a leg kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Maya.
Gerard feints and then cracks Maya's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Maya down.
Gerard takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Maya misses with an uppercut
and Gerard counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Maya connects with a leg kick. Gerard looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Maya wants to land a leg kick but Gerard is out of range.
Maya misses with a head kick.
Gerard misses with a double jab.
Gerard throws a lazy right hand but Maya sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Maya makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maya uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Gerard. That snapped Maya's head back.

Gerard throws a solid leg kick but Maya takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gerard.

Gerard lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Gerard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gerard tries to work over Maya's front leg with a kick but Maya checks it.
Maya moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Maya misses with a two punch combination.

and Gerard counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Gerard throws a head kick that misses.
Maya lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Maya connects with a leg kick. Gerard looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Razor Maya is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maya throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gerard clobbers Maya with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Gerard takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Gerard is breathing heavily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maya misses with a low kick.
Maya connects with a crisp jab.
Maya throws a head kick but Gerard moves out of range.
Maya takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Razor Maya will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gerard loads up on a big right hand but Maya slips the punch.
Maya connects with a solid leg kick.
A punch combination from Gerard misses.
Maya pushes Gerard away with a front kick.
Maya lands a leg kick that knocks Gerard off balance momentarily.
Maya thumps Gerard with a low kick.
Gerard tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crunch! Maya slams his shin into Gerard's torso.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Maya.
Maya throws a head kick that Gerard semi-blocks.

and Maya finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Good leg kick by Maya there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Maya lands a big head kick that sends Gerard tumbling to the mat! Maya takes a step backwards and waves Gerard back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Gerard is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maya throws an uppercut from hell that sends Gerard clean off his feet! He's out cold! Maya stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
