Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Con Waterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nigel Burkshire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Waterson comes into the arena with Oasis - Roll With It blaring out of the sound system. Burkshire has chosen It's a Fight - Three 6 Mafia as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Con Waterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nigel Burkshire!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Waterson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Burkshire avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Burkshire swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Burkshire uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Waterson.
Waterson misses with a left hand
and Burkshire counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Burkshire scores with a one two! Waterson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Con Waterson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Oooooh!!! Burkshire has knocked Waterson down with a huge combo! Burkshire steps away and waves a wobbly Waterson back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Burkshire swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Burkshire throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Waterson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Burkshire dives in and scores a takedown into Waterson's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burkshire wants to control from the top but Waterson keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burkshire is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burkshire looks to land a left hand but Waterson moved out of range nicely.
Nigel Burkshire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Waterson misses with a lunging right hand
and Burkshire counters with a left and a right that stings Waterson.
Waterson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Burkshire under the eye.

and Burkshire takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Horrible takedown by Burkshire or perhaps it was just good defense by Waterson which made him look bad.
Con Waterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nigel Burkshire.
Burkshire shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Waterson as he avoids it easily.
Con Waterson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Waterson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Burkshire back to the cage. Waterson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Waterson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Burkshire's head.
Burkshire misses with a right hand
and Waterson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Burkshire darts in trying to clinch
and Waterson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Burkshire looks to land a right hand but Waterson moved out of range.
Burkshire tries to clinch up but Waterson circles away and keeps his distance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nigel Burkshire dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Burkshire missing with a left hand there. Waterson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Waterson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Burkshire closes the distance and clinches.
A body shot lands from Waterson.

Burkshire pulls Waterson into guard.
Waterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Burkshire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Waterson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Waterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Con Waterson just wasn't active enough.

Burkshire is trying to force a seperation but Waterson has the dominant position.
A frustrated look appears on Burkshire's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Burkshire struggles to land a body shot inside as Waterson controls his hands.
Waterson swings wildly with an uppercut but Burkshire uses good head movement to avoid it.

Burkshire blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Burkshire tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Burkshire lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Waterson controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Waterson works his way to full guard. Good work.
Burkshire throwing strikes from guard but Waterson blocks nicely.

Burkshire trying to control the position but instead, Waterson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Burkshire into the cage.

Waterson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Burkshire is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Waterson to keep the fight standing.

Waterson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Waterson presses Burkshire against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Burkshire seems to have recovered his senses.

Waterson drops Burkshire onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Burkshire is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Waterson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Waterson dips a shoulder and cracks Burkshire with a mighty uppercut! Burkshire falls back against the cage and Waterson unloads with a barrage of strikes! Burkshire is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Waterson screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Con Waterson!
