Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Doestevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doestevsky has chosen New Divide as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Samuel Doestevsky!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doestevsky misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hess closes the distance looking to clinch

and Doestevsky counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Hess tries to break the clinch but Doestevsky is controlling the position.
Doestevsky looking to throw knees to the head but Hess is blocking nicely.
Hess wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Doestevsky lands a hook that snaps the head of Hess backwards.
Doestevsky putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Hess in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Doestevsky breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Doestevsky swats away the attempt to clinch by Hess.
Doestevsky throws a quick inside leg kick.

Doestevsky dives in and grabs Hess's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hess pushes down on Doestevsky's head and hops out.
Doestevsky lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hess takes a step back to recover.

Hess tries to clinch up but Doestevsky circles away and keeps his distance.
Doestevsky misses with a shot to the body

and Hess counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Doestevsky pushes Hess off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hess tries to clinch up but Doestevsky circles away and keeps his distance.
Hess wants to clinch up but Doestevsky keeps it at a distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hess enables Doestevsky to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hess manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hess is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Doestevsky defends well.
Doestevsky slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Doestevsky decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

No luck for Doestevsky with that takedown attempt.
Steve Hess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Doestevsky.
Hess tries to clinch up but Doestevsky circles away and keeps his distance.
Hess takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Doestevsky forces Hess back against the cage and clinches.
Hess looking to throw knees to the head but Doestevsky is blocking nicely.

Doestevsky escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hess scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hess is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Doestevsky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hess.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Doestevsky tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Hess manages to move to mount!

Doestevsky bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Doestevsky looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hess keeping moving, preventing Doestevsky from controlling successfully.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hess looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Doestevsky dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hess shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Doestevsky pinned against the cage. Doestevsky gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Doestevsky has closed the distance and engaged Hess in a clinch.
Doestevsky creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Hess's defenses.

Samuel Doestevsky seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Doestevsky dives in and scores a takedown into Hess's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Doestevsky stands and steps away. Hess gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Doestevsky tries to bum rush Hess with a series of wild strikes but Hess uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Doestevsky keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Doestevsky lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hess circles away quickly and effectively.
Doestevsky leaves Hess with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Hess. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hess is looking to clinch but Doestevsky is avoiding it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hess looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Doestevsky keeps control of Hess as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Doestevsky pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hess closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Doestevsky to the mat! Doestevsky manages to get full guard.

Hess postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Doestevsky is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hess, into his guard.
Hess can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Doestevsky controls the pace.

Hess looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hess has his foot on Doestevsky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doestevsky works his way back into a safe position though.

Samuel Doestevsky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hess's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Doestevsky stalks Hess and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hess's face. Hess staggers backwards, shaken.

and Doestevsky counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Doestevsky connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Doestevsky misses with a series of wild punches.
Doestevsky throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Doestevsky circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hess tries to clinch but Doestevsky moves away

and Doestevsky counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hess is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Doestevsky pulls his head out easily.

Hess shoots for a takedown but Doestevsky saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Steve Hess is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Doestevsky slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

A frustrated look appears on Hess's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hess is trying to maintain a safe position but Doestevsky gets an underhook and turns Hess into the cage.
Doestevsky unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hess lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Doestevsky lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hess circles away quickly and effectively.
Doestevsky throws a head kick that Hess semi-blocks.
Hess dives in and grabs Doestevsky's left leg, looking for a takedown. Doestevsky pushes down on Hess's head and hops out.
Doestevsky shoots in but no luck this time.

Doestevsky forces Hess back against the cage and clinches.

Doestevsky manages to break the clinch.
Hess tries to clinch there but Doestevsky circles away.

Hess shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hess was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hess avoids the attempt from Doestevsky to control.

Doestevsky is trying to escape the mount.
Doestevsky is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Steve Hess has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Doestevsky trying desperately to get to his feet.
Doestevsky tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Samuel Doestevsky is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Doestevsky tries to lock up and control but Hess gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hess jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Doestevsky is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Doestevsky and Hess has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Doestevsky is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hess's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Doestevsky manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hess's best efforts.
Doestevsky holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Hess is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hess looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that's the end of the fight!
Samuel Doestevsky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Doestevsky has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
