Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Rubble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa comes to the cage accompanied by mindshift genki sudo. Rubble has chosen Rage Against The Machine - No Shelter as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barney Rubble!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishikawa tries to clinch there but Rubble circles away.
A bone on bone clash there as Ishikawa blocks the leg kick.
Ishikawa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rubble counters with a slapping leg kick.
Ishikawa throws a head kick but Rubble moves out of range.
Rubble throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Ishikawa wants to clinch.
Rubble connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Ishikawa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rubble did well to prevent Ishikawa getting side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ishikawa perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ishikawa is just content to waste time from the top position. Rubble takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Ishikawa tries to free his leg and advance position but Rubble is retaining full guard.

Rubble wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ishikawa is now in half guard.

Rubble is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ishikawa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ishikawa's back!

Rubble wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ishikawa keeps working.
Rubble tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rubble in particular looking to stall.

Barney Rubble has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ishikawa fails to land the takedown.

Ishikawa rushes Rubble and presses him up against the cage.
Rubble has Ishikawa pressed against the cage, preventing Ishikawa from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Ishikawa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rubble clobbers Ishikawa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Rubble ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ishikawa moves away.
Ishikawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Rubble tries to sprawl out of it but Ishikawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rubble manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rubble moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Rubble throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ishikawa moves to clinch but Rubble breaks away
letting Rubble counter with a right hand.
Ishikawa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rubble defends it nicely.
Rubble connects with a leg kick. Ishikawa looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Ishikawa wants to clinch up but Rubble keeps it at a distance.

and Rubble counters with a straight right hand.
Akira Ishikawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rubble throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Rubble counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ishikawa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rubble pinned against the cage. Rubble gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rubble lands a leg kick that knocks Ishikawa off balance momentarily.

Rubble lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rubble looks to score with a jab to the body but Ishikawa is just out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rubble gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ishikawa to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rubble lands a leg kick that knocks Ishikawa off balance momentarily.

and Rubble counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ishikawa's knee momentarily.
Rubble throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Rubble with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Rubble lands with a right hand.
Ishikawa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Rubble scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Barney Rubble seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Ishikawa or perhaps it was just good defense by Rubble which made him look bad.

Ishikawa steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rubble. That one must have hurt.
Rubble looks to land a combination but Ishikawa avoids it well.

and Rubble counters with an inside leg kick.
Barney Rubble is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ishikawa stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rubble.
Rubble is looking to slow Ishikawa down with leg kicks.
Rubble fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ishikawa has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rubble works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Akira Ishikawa's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Barney Rubble decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
