PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lou Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lou Miller told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Renato Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lou Miller!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Miller does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Miller trying to control but Silva postures up.
Miller throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Miller wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.

Silva looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Renato Silva wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Miller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Miller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Silva shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Miller has a hand on Silva's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Silva takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Miller is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Silva tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Miller can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Miller is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Silva has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Miller is in real trouble here. Silva gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Miller is tapping out! Silva wins by rear naked choke!

In his post fight interview, Renato Silva started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
