Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kiyoshi Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsumoto comes to the cage accompanied by Carl Douglas - Kung fu fighting. Redshaw is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by ACDC - Skies on Fire. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

16 - 9 - 3, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Redshaw is defended easily by Matsumoto. A kick lands to the mid section there for Redshaw. Redshaw misses with a head kick.
Redshaw fails with a takedown attempt. Matsumoto misses with a straight left. Redshaw checks a low kick from Matsumoto. Matsumoto looks to land a left hand but Redshaw moved out of range nicely. Matsumoto misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Redshaw.

Matsumoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Redshaw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Matsumoto has managed to get both his arms back between Redshaw's legs - danger averted.

Matsumoto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Redshaw is keeping the position for now. Redshaw controls Matsumoto momentarily but Matsumoto frees himself. Redshaw utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Redshaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Matsumoto wants to control from the top but Redshaw keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Matsumoto controlling from the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kiyoshi Matsumoto will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Redshaw darts in and clinches Matsumoto up against the cage. Redshaw blocks a body shot from Matsumoto. Redshaw's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Redshaw throws the kick towards the body but Matsumoto avoids it. That could spell trouble for Matsumoto! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Redshaw throwing sloppy strikes here. Redshaw escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matsumoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Matsumoto slips a nice elbow through Redshaw's hands, connecting with Redshaw's forehead. Redshaw tries to roll over but Matsumoto keeps him under control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Redshaw taking some punishment here, with Matsumoto in his half guard. Matsumoto looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Nice strikes from Matsumoto there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Redshaw gets full guard. Redshaw is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matsumoto defends well. Redshaw can't keep his opponent in guard - Matsumoto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kiyoshi Matsumoto. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matsumoto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
