18 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Wattson! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wattson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cowell. Cowell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Wattson counters with a good low kick that Cowell was not able to check. Wattson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wattson connects with a leg kick. Cowell looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Wattson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Cowell has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wattson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cowell. Cowell takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wattson scores with punches from side control. Cowell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cowell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Cowell taking some punishment here, with Wattson in his half guard. Wattson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wattson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cowell's head. Wattson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cowell wants to get back to full guard. Wattson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cowell is just riding it out for now. Wattson eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cowell tries to roll over but Wattson keeps him under control.

Cowell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Wattson won't allow Cowell to sweep him here. Cowell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wattson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cowell's head. Wattson is working Cowell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cowell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wattson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Wattson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cowell's head. Wattson forces his way into half guard. Wattson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Wattson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cowell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wattson's guard. Cowell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wattson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cowell. Cowell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ron Wattson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cowell is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wattson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Wattson immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Cowell is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Wattson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ron Wattson! A relieved looking Ron Wattson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
