The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishinomori lands a high kick!
It looks like Michael Schmidt has been cut.
Schmidt shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ishinomori eats them both and turns towards Schmidt to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Ishinomori throws the left hand but Schmidt avoids the punch easily.
A punch combination from Schmidt misses.
Horrible takedown by Ishinomori or perhaps it was just good defense by Schmidt which made him look bad.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ishinomori fails with the takedown.
Schmidt drops Ishinomori with a beautiful combination! Ishinomori stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Schmidt is looking for the KO!
Ishinomori is rocked!
It looks like Nobu Ishinomori has been cut.
Schmidt Throws a clean left jab. Schmidt Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Ishinomori's chin! Ishinomori crumbles to the ground and Schmidt follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Schmidt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Michael Schmidt!
In his post fight interview, Michael Schmidt started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
