Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Danielson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Danielson comes to the cage accompanied by Deyon Davis - Knocked Out. Danielson has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Danielson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Ryan! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan misses with a double jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Danielson. Good work by Danielson as he checks the leg kick. Ryan throws a sloppy head kick and Danielson moves out of range easily. Ryan throws a leg kick but Danielson checks it. A head kick misses from Ryan. Ryan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nice takedown defense from Ryan. No joy for Danielson on that attempt. Danielson is breathing heavily. Danielson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ryan sprawls well. Ryan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Danielson gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Danielson. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from Ryan does no damage. Ryan lands a two punch combo.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A head kick misses from Ryan. Ryan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Danielson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Danielson avoids the head kick by Ryan.
Ryan tries to bum rush Danielson with a series of wild strikes but Danielson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Danielson or perhaps it was just good defense by Ryan which made him look bad. Ryan misses with a two punch combination.
Ryan throws a nice looking combination but Danielson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ryan lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Ryan fails to land with a series of punches.
Matt Danielson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Danielson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ryan, pushing him back against the cage. Danielson breaks the clinch.

Danielson feints and as Ryan raises his hands in defense, Danielson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Danielson throws a strike but Ryan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ryan won't allow Danielson to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan won't allow Danielson to sweep him here. Ryan wanted to stand there but Danielson had control of the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Danielson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Danielson pushes Ryan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Danielson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Danielson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Danielson wants to pass the guard but Ryan is keeping the position. Danielson stops Ryan from standing up.

Danielson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Danielson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Danielson is looking to stand up but Ryan won't let him. Danielson with a flurry of punches that miss. Danielson won't allow Ryan to get back to his feet. Ryan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ryan has a closed guard, preventing Danielson from standing up. Danielson gets to his feet - Ryan follows without any prompting.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Danielson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Danielson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Danielson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Danielson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ryan blocking the ground and pound. Danielson raining down hammerfists from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Danielson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Ryan is bucking up trying to escape but Danielson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danielson is trying to ground and pound but Ryan uses the momentary lack of control by Danielson to regain half guard. Danielson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danielson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Danielson thowing shots but they're missing. Danielson breaks from Ryan's wrist control and lands an elbow. Danielson lands a heavy elbow. Danielson lands a nice shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Danielson.
Danielson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ryan's face.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan is trying to stand. Danielson with a couple of short strikes. Danielson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ryan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Danielson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ryan looks a forlorn figure.
Matt Danielson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ryan's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Danielson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Danielson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
