PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John McClane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Pekar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McClane might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Immortal Technique -- Point of No Return. Pekar has chosen Dead Joe, by The Birthday Party as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harvey Pekar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClane misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pekar.
A jab from McClane finds it's way through Pekar's defenses.
McClane misses with a hook. Pekar ducked under it nicely.

Pekar drives through and clinches with McClane against the cage.
McClane misses with some punches.
McClane stops a takedown attempt from Pekar.
McClane digs a right hand into Pekar's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pekar's gas tank.
Pekar tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McClane just stands there and leans against the cage.

McClane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McClane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

McClane closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pekar is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McClane pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pekar working for a triangle but McClane defends it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McClane connects with a nice short shot to Pekar's temple.
Pekar is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pekar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

McClane misses with a takedown attempt - Pekar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pekar is pushing down on McClane's leg trying to pass to half guard. McClane is fighting to maintain full guard but Pekar has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pekar is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed McClane to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
McClane tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pekar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

McClane is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pekar pulls him back up using the underhooks.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pekar has his foot on McClane's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McClane works his way back into a safe position though.
This has been an exciting period of action!

I would just about give that final round to Harvey Pekar.
