Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Droop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoyt Jurgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgensen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Peter, Paul & Mary - If I Had A Hammer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hoyt Jurgensen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, George Droop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hoyt Jurgensen! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jurgensen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Droop throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Droop closes the distance and clinches. Droop tries a body shot but Jurgensen blocks it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Droop misses with the head strike.
Droop swings wildly with an uppercut but Jurgensen uses good head movement to avoid it. Droop breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jurgensen fails to land the takedown. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jurgensen. George Droop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoyt Jurgensen. Jurgensen shoots for a double leg takedown but Droop sprawls well. He's pushed Jurgensen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Droop throws a nice looking combination but Jurgensen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Droop throws out a loose jab but Jurgensen uses good head movement to avoid it. Jurgensen checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Droop moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Droop really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Jurgensen moves away from the strike by Droop.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Droop throws a sloppy head kick and Jurgensen moves out of range easily. Droop throws a head kick but Jurgensen moves out of range.
Jurgensen slips under a jab from Droop. Jurgensen tries for a takedown but Droop circles away easily and Droop counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Jurgensen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Droop drives through and clinches with Jurgensen against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Droop misses with a short punch on the inside. Droop is stalling here.
Droop throws a punch but it's blocked by Jurgensen. Jurgensen blocks an uppercut.

George Droop dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Droop digs a good body shot into Jurgensen's ribs. No luck for Jurgensen with that takedown attempt. Droop throws an overhand right that lands on Jurgensen's shoulder, as Jurgensen tries to avoid the shot. Droop lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Jurgensen looks for a takedown but Droop sprawls well. Jurgensen fails with a takedown attempt. George Droop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoyt Jurgensen. Droop misses with a hook. Jurgensen ducked under it nicely. Droop lands a glancing blow to the side of Jurgensen's head.

Jurgensen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Droop sprawls well. Droop wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jurgensen gets slowly back to his feet. Jurgensen fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Droop throws a combination. Jurgensen tries to block but a couple of punches get through. George Droop is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jurgensen misses with a shot to the body and Droop cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. George Droop is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Droop cracks Jurgensen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Droop circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jurgensen pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Droop back to the cage. Jurgensen follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Droop is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Droop scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Jurgensen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Jurgensen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Jurgensen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Droop as he avoids it easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Droop. Jurgensen does a little dance to reset his feet. Droop walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Droop lands a jab-cross combination. Droop is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. and Jurgensen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jurgensen is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jurgensen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Droop is trying to maintain the position but Jurgensen is very close to passing his half guard. Droop is holding on to half guard well. Jurgensen working Droop over with strikes. Jurgensen is working for a submission of some sort.
Jurgensen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Droop blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jurgensen. Jurgensen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Droop is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jurgensen trying to mount his opponent but Droop defends it. Jurgensen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Droop's head. Droop moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Droop looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jurgensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Droop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that George Droop will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Droop throws a looping overhand right but Jurgensen ducks down to avoid it. George Droop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Droop cracks Jurgensen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Droop looks to land a left hand but Jurgensen moved out of range nicely. Droop punishes Jurgensen's body with a nice straight punch. A shot to the liver by Droop. Beautiful body shot. Jurgensen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jurgensen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jurgensen. Jurgensen has his takedown stuffed and Droop counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jurgensen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Droop looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Jurgensen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Droop is trying to control Jurgensen's posture but Jurgensen avoids it. Jurgensen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Droop to see if he's OK. Jurgensen working the body and head with strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! Droop is trying to improve his position. Droop manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Droop is trying to maintain the position but Jurgensen is very close to passing his half guard. Droop is controlling Jurgensen's position as best he can from this difficult position. Jurgensen scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Droop gets back to full guard.
Jurgensen passes Droop's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jurgensen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Droop is just riding it out for now. Jurgensen eventually gives up the hold. Jurgensen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jurgensen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Droop does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jurgensen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Droop is just riding it out for now. Jurgensen eventually gives up the hold. Jurgensen is nestled in close to Droop, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Droop tries to roll over but Jurgensen keeps him under control. Jurgensen looks to land a strike but Droop avoids it nicely and regains full guard. George Droop is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Droop keeping moving, preventing Jurgensen from controlling successfully. Jurgensen trying to move into half guard but instead Droop has managed to sweep! Jurgensen is trying to keep Droop in close.

Droop slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jurgensen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Droop lands a couple of decent looking shots. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Droop wants to control from the top but Jurgensen keeps moving. Droop advances to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Droop. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Droop, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
