The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madsen throws a head kick that misses.
Madsen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Gunnar Madsen has been cut.
Sparger lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Madsen circles away quickly and effectively.
Sparger tests Madsen's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Madsen closes the distance and clinches up with Sparger, looking for a takedown. Madsen pushes Sparger against the cage but Sparger circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Sparger might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Madsen throws a solid leg kick but Sparger takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Madsen.
Madsen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sparger connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Madsen scrambles back to his feet.

That's time! Madsen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Madsen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sparger.
Sparger darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Sparger moves into range and connects with a jab.
Sparger clobbers Madsen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sparger is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Madsen. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Madsen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Sparger bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sparger jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sparger darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gunnar Madsen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Madsen looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
