PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colton Trayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bloc Party - Flux kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Colton Trayne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Charlie McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trayne scores with a one two! McGregor had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
McGregor throws out a loose jab but Trayne uses good head movement to avoid it.
McGregor lunges at Trayne with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Trayne's hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Trayne checks the leg kick.
Trayne with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Trayne lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Trayne.
McGregor throws a low kick, looking for Trayne's leg but Trayne calmly moves out of range.
Trayne looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Colton Trayne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trayne scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Trayne takes a swing at McGregor's ribcage but misses.
McGregor throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
McGregor takes a head kick and keeps coming.
McGregor circles away from the clinch attempt.
Trayne tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McGregor on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

McGregor with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Trayne to score with a decent uppercut.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Trayne.
Trayne slips a jab from McGregor.
McGregor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Trayne is fending him off so far but McGregor persists. Nope, Trayne circles away and we're back to standing.
McGregor bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Trayne's head.
McGregor jabs Trayne right on the nose. Trayne blinks but takes it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGregor lands a jab to the nose.
McGregor throws a series of punches but Trayne avoids them all with ease.
McGregor throws a head kick that misses.
Trayne wants to clinch.
McGregor takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Trayne scores with a jab.

Trayne connects with a jab.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Trayne lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McGregor has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McGregor and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A chopping leg kick lands by Trayne.

McGregor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Trayne quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

McGregor working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Trayne's thigh. Trayne counters though and makes it back to full guard.

McGregor tries to free his leg and advance position but Trayne is retaining full guard.
McGregor is pushing down on Trayne's leg trying to pass to half guard. Trayne is fighting to maintain full guard but McGregor has managed to sneak the leg through.
McGregor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trayne's head.
McGregor throws a strike but Trayne avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

McGregor passes easily into side control. Nice work.
McGregor cracks Trayne with a big elbow.
Trayne is trying to get back to half guard.
McGregor has knee on belly and moves into mount.

McGregor sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Trayne tries to lock up and control but McGregor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Trayne is rocked!
McGregor punching from mount but Trayne doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Oh Trayne is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGregor throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGregor postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Trayne looks a forlorn figure.
You get the feeling that Trayne really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie McGregor dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Trayne throws a solid leg kick but McGregor takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Trayne.
Trayne seems to have got his legs back now.
Colton Trayne is winning the standup battle so far.

McGregor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
McGregor looks to land a strike but Trayne avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
McGregor sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Trayne's guard.
McGregor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McGregor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McGregor throwing shots but Trayne is blocking nicely.
McGregor tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Trayne.

McGregor wants to work for an arm triangle but Trayne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McGregor tries to pass to full mount but Trayne defends it.

McGregor stops Trayne from getting back to his feet.
McGregor wants to pass to mount but Trayne is defending the position.
Charlie McGregor has got the better of the ground game so far.
McGregor prevents Trayne from standing back up.
McGregor lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
McGregor trying to mount his opponent but Trayne defends it.

McGregor is looking for a kimura but Trayne is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McGregor to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGregor sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Trayne defending well though.
Colton Trayne has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

McGregor is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Trayne reverses the position - he's now on top in McGregor's guard.
McGregor wants to sweep but no luck.
Trayne trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Colton Trayne.
Trayne is looking to clinch.
McGregor has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McGregor fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Trayne to the ground. McGregor is now in Trayne's guard.
McGregor is pushing down on Trayne's leg trying to pass to half guard. Trayne is fighting to maintain full guard but McGregor has managed to sneak the leg through.
McGregor is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

McGregor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McGregor not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGregor not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Charlie McGregor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Trayne makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McGregor misses with a hook. Trayne ducked under it nicely.
McGregor throws a nice inside leg kick.
Colton Trayne is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McGregor gets a double leg takedown into Trayne's guard.
McGregor wants to control from the top but Trayne keeps moving.
McGregor wants to pass the guard but Trayne is keeping the position.
McGregor stands and throws Trayne's legs to the side, diving into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGregor throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Trayne works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
McGregor is nestled in close to Trayne, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

And that's the end of the fight!
Charlie McGregor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McGregor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
