Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Dowal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Dowal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eddy Jones! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dowal. Dowal has his takedown stuffed and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Dowal will be more careful next time no doubt. Jones scores with a leg kick.
Dowal shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Dowal. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones throws a right and a left that Dowal avoids nicely. Dowal will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dowal stuffs the takedown. Dowal gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Dowal manages to retain guard. This has been an exciting period of action! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Dowal has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dowal working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Dowal looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dowal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jones wants to pass the guard but Dowal is keeping the position. Dowal has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dowal. Jones is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dowal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jones has an Americana. Dowal didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Jones is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Jones hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Eddy Jones! Eddy Jones seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
