Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reko Mehtala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Fandango!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mehtala moves in looking to clinch but Fandango pushes him off.
Fandango takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mehtala tries to bum rush Fandango with a series of wild strikes but Fandango uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mehtala blocks a head kick by Fandango.
Mehtala displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


Fandango is rocked!
Mehtala misses with the combination.
Fandango is still on wobbly legs! Can Mehtala finish him?
Mehtala throws a shot to the body.
Fandango seems to have recovered his senses.
Mehtala scores with a hook to the body. Fandango takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mehtala lands a nice hook to Fandango's body. Fandango takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Mehtala shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mehtala could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fandango has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mehtala is working away from the top position though.
Mehtala is pressing down on Fandango's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fandango is holding on for now.

Mehtala stalling.

Mehtala stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Fandango misses with a combination
and Mehtala counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A combination from Mehtala does no damage.

Fandango doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Mehtala counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fandango won't be happy with that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Fandango tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mehtala wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Fandango seems a little lost for a moment, as Mehtala dominates the positioning.
Mehtala has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Fandango tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mehtala presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fandango keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fandango is just holding on here. Mehtala manages to take his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mehtala is not going to allow Fandango to sit and survive in this position.
I would not like to be Fandango right now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mehtala seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fandango manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mehtala manages to get himself to full guard.
Mehtala looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Fandango won't allow Mehtala to sweep him here.

Mehtala is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Mehtala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fandango tries to stand but Mehtala is controlling from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mehtala swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Fandango counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Fandango lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mehtala's sensitive parts.

Mehtala is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Fandango has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mehtala is taking a breather. Fandango says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mehtala passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fandango!

Fandango moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mehtala sizes up Fandango with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Mehtala stuffs the takedown attempt from Fandango. Fandango gets slowly back to his feet.

and Fandango counters with a one-two to the body.
Reko Mehtala is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fandango throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mehtala's waist but Mehtala gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fandango off to one side.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mehtala.

Mehtala is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Reko Mehtala overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fandango wants to control but Mehtala is keeping busy.

and Mehtala counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fandango's guard now.
Reko Mehtala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Fandango.
Mehtala is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mehtala prevents Fandango from getting back to his feet.

Mehtala stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fandango swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mehtala postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Fandango is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mehtala prevents Fandango from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A punch combination from Mehtala misses.
Mehtala lands a with a good body shot.
Mehtala displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fandango throws out the jab.

Fandango feints and as Mehtala raises his hands in defense, Fandango changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fred Fandango has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fandango postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mehtala is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fandango, into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Reko Mehtala showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mehtala has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
