PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dillon Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Wusscakes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Bodies. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wusscakes wants to clinch.
Palmer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Palmer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Palmer seems to be working for a kimura but Wusscakes defends the submission attempt.

Palmer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wusscakes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Palmer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Palmer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wusscakes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Palmer has his foot on Wusscakes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wusscakes works his way back into a safe position though.
Palmer is breathing heavily.

Palmer has an active guard here but Wusscakes has managed to pass into half guard.
Wusscakes wants to pass to mount but Palmer is defending the position.

Wusscakes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Palmer to stand up.
Wusscakes throws a leg kick but Palmer checks it.

Wusscakes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Palmer's guard.

Let's hope that Wusscakes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Wusscakes decides to return to a standing position.
Wusscakes tries to close the distance and clinch but Palmer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wusscakes throws an overhand right that lands on Palmer's shoulder, as Palmer tries to avoid the shot.

Palmer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Wusscakes counters with a single leg into guard. Palmer didn't expect that.
Palmer looking for a sweep. Not yet Palmer, not yet.
Palmer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Palmer wants to pass to mount but Wusscakes is defending the position.

Palmer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wusscakes is just riding it out for now. Palmer eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wusscakes gets full guard.
Palmer pushes down on Wusscakes's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Palmer is working for a submission of some sort.

Palmer is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wusscakes has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wusscakes tries to get to full guard but Palmer has control of the leg.

Palmer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wusscakes is doing well to control the position and prevent Palmer from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BJ Wusscakes dominated that round.

BJ Wusscakes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palmer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Wusscakes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Palmer's guard.

Palmer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wusscakes is in close to Palmer's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Wusscakes is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Palmer has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Wusscakes is looking to defend but Palmer has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Wusscakes! Palmer pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Wusscakes taps out and this one is all over!
