Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Angus McLoughlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Takeshi Kovacks! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovacks jabs at McLoughlin's body. Kovacks rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McLoughlin counters with a straight right hand. Kovacks changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Kovacks motions for McLoughlin to come forward. Kovacks throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Kovacks does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. McLoughlin is looking to score with low kicks. Kovacks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McLoughlin as he jumps to the side. McLoughlin lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kovacks takes a step back to recover. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McLoughlin keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Takeshi Kovacks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McLoughlin takes one to the chin there. McLoughlin misses with a low kick.
McLoughlin checks a leg kick nicely. McLoughlin misses with a shot to the body and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kovacks looks to score with a jab to the body but McLoughlin is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. McLoughlin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McLoughlin getting the better of the striking in that exchange. McLoughlin throws a head kick but Kovacks moves out of range.
McLoughlin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Kovacks misses with a body shot.
Kovacks throws a low kick but McLoughlin moves out of range easily. Kovacks misses with a leg kick. Kovacks fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but McLoughlin is out of range. Good leg kick by Kovacks there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kovacks pivots, looking for a leg kick but McLoughlin is out of range and Kovacks settles back down. Kovacks looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Kovacks changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McLoughlin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kovacks has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kovacks and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kovacks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Kovacks. McLoughlin does a little dance to reset his feet. Kovacks swings away with a body shot that misses
and McLoughlin counters with a flying knee. Nice. This has been an exciting period of action! McLoughlin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Kovacks with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kovacks ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Kovacks shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Kovacks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McLoughlin moves away. Good leg kick by McLoughlin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kovacks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kovacks tries to clinch but McLoughlin is having none of it. Angus McLoughlin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kovacks fails in his attempt to clinch. Kovacks throws out a leg kick but McLoughlin moves out of range and Kovacks only half commits. Kovacks misses with a body shot.
A big left from McLoughlin misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McLoughlin lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kovacks's sensitive parts. McLoughlin checks a leg kick. A leg kick checked by McLoughlin. Kovacks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McLoughlin manages to avoid it. Kovacks drops his hands momentarily and McLoughlin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. McLoughlin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kovacks throws a chopping leg kick but McLoughlin manages to avoid taking any serious damage. McLoughlin throws a monster overhand right that drops Kovacks! McLoughlin follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
