Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Vargtass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is AVANTASIA-Seven Angels. Vargtass has chosen Torparrock as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Richard Vargtass!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a jab, cross combination.
Vargtass misses with a jab to the body
and Rua counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Good shot there by Vargtass.
Rua looks to land a left hand but Vargtass moved out of range nicely.
A slapping body kick lands there for Vargtass.
Vargtass staying out of range there.
Rua takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Vargtass connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rua keeps the fight on the outside.
Vargtass swings for the body but Rua moves out of range.
Rua misses with a takedown
and Vargtass counters with a nice body kick.
Rua lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Rua shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vargtass but Vargtass pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rua throws a low kick, looking for Vargtass's leg but Vargtass calmly moves out of range.

Rua uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Rua looks to score with a jab to the body but Vargtass is just out of range.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rua lands with a hook. Vargtass tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
It looks like Richard Vargtass has been cut.
Rua steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Vargtass. That one must have hurt.
Vargtass has managed to clinch.

Vargtass with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Rua blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Vargtass has had enough of the clinch but Rua keeps him there for the moment.

Rua is trying to trip Vargtass. He has hold of a leg but Vargtass is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rua persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rua thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vargtass's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rua misses with a looping left.
Rua listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Vargtass will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rua takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rua shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vargtass pinned against the cage. Vargtass gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Some bone on bone action there as Rua checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Rua throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rua fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Vargtass has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vargtass moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Vargtass checks a leg kick.
Vargtass dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lyoto Rua is winning the standup battle so far.
Rua lands a nice looking kick to the body. Vargtass takes a step back to recover.
Vargtass is breathing heavily.
Rua will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vargtass misses with a hook. Rua ducked under it nicely.

Vargtass walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Rua throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rua looks to land a body kick but Vargtass moved away.
Rua throws a jab when Vargtass was well out of range.

and Rua counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That has opened up Richard Vargtass's cut even more.
Vargtass ducks under a wild hook from Rua.
Vargtass catches Rua with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Rua walks forward, straight into a front kick from Vargtass.
Rua lands a nice shot that snaps Vargtass's head back.
Rua lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rua misses with an uppercut. Vargtass saw that one coming.

The cut above Richard Vargtass's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Rua dives in and grabs Vargtass's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vargtass pushes down on Rua's head and hops out.
Rua lands a big shot that drops Vargtass! Can he finish him?
Vargtass is rocked!
Rua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rua with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Vargtass is still in real trouble! Can Rua finish him?

Richard Vargtass's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Rua distracts Vargtass with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Richard Vargtass's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Lyoto Rua!
After winning the bout, Lyoto Rua thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
