PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Chaos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Serial Kilter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Chaos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Serial Kilter!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaos shoots for a takedown but Kilter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kilter wants to clinch up but Chaos keeps it at a distance.

Chaos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Chaos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kilter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Chaos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kilter's head.
Kilter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chaos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kilter tries to kick Chaos off but Chaos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chaos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kilter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Chaos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kilter is just riding it out for now. Chaos eventually gives up the hold.
Kilter is not content to let Chaos control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chaos tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Kilter counters by moving into the clinch.
Chaos has had enough of the clinch but Kilter keeps him there for the moment.
Chaos is trying to break free.

Chaos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Chaos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kilter's guard.
Chaos is in close to Kilter's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kilter can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Chaos is looking to clinch but Kilter is avoiding it.
Chaos fails to land with a series of punches.
Chaos shoots in for a takedown but Kilter shows good takedown defense.

Chaos has managed to clinch.
Kilter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chaos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kilter has him pressed against the cage.
Chaos tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Chaos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

No joy there for Chaos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kilter throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Chaos blocks it with crossed arms.
Chaos wants to break the clinch but can't.

Chaos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kilter tries to clinch but Chaos moves away

and Chaos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kilter's guard.

Chaos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kilter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kilter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kilter!

Chaos manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kilter wants to get back to his feet.
Chaos has a hand on Kilter's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kilter takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chaos wants to hold on but Kilter pushes him away.
Chaos gets back to half guard.

Kilter is breathing heavily.
Chaos wants to get back to full guard.

Kilter seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Chaos gets a takedown into half guard.

Kilter is trying to stand.
Chaos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Chaos misses with a head shot. Kilter uses the momentum to regain guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Chaos controls Kilter momentarily but Kilter frees himself.
Kilter wants to stand but Chaos is controlling his posture from full guard.
Chaos will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Kilter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chaos wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kilter is now in half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chaos manages to get to full guard.
Chaos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kilter's guard.

Kyle Chaos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chaos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
