The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bernstein feints and then cracks Monson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Monson down.
Monson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Monson looks for a takedown but Bernstein sprawls well.
Bernstein throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
It looks like Jeff Monson has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bernstein moves into range and clinches up with Monson.
Bernstein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Monson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bernstein connects with a leg kick. Monson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Bernstein sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Monson to the ground! Bernstein dives into full mount looking to finish!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

In his post fight interview, Eli Bernstein started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
