PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adriano Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sai Fukuta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia comes into the arena with Ratamahatta by Sepultura blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adriano Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sai Fukuta!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fukuta misses with a double jab.

Fukuta rushes Garcia and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Garcia breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fukuta moves into range and clinches up with Garcia.

Fukuta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Garcia throws a nice looking combination but Fukuta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Garcia looks to land a left hand but Fukuta moved out of range nicely.

Fukuta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Garcia fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fukuta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Sai Fukuta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Garcia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Garcia frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Fukuta's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Garcia is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fukuta to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fukuta shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Garcia lands a big shot there that rocks Fukuta but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Fukuta is squirming around, avoiding Garcia's attempts to control the action.
Garcia wants to take Fukuta's back here but Fukuta is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fukuta somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adriano Garcia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Garcia fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fukuta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Garcia paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Fukuta goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Fukuta takes a swing at Garcia's ribcage but misses.
Sai Fukuta is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Garcia shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fukuta manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Fukuta escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garcia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fukuta doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Garcia is standing up over Fukuta. Fukuta looks to escape but Garcia dives into side control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fukuta throws a series of punches but Garcia moves out of range.

Garcia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fukuta pushes Garcia away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Garcia gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Garcia cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Adriano Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sai Fukuta.

Garcia is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Fukuta is trying to escape and Garcia transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Fukuta is forced to tap! Nice work there by Garcia! Very nice indeed!
