The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gattuso stuffs the takedown.
Gracie avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Gattuso is just out of range.
Gattuso wants to land a leg kick but Gracie is out of range.
A slapping body kick lands there for Gattuso.
Gattuso lands a left and a right that send Gracie crashing to the mat, dazed. Gattuso thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Peter Gracie has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie misses with a straight left.
Gattuso walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Gracie drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gattuso swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Gracie's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Javier Gattuso!

Javier Gattuso decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
