Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Moses Testament! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Zlapp! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Testament tries to bum rush Zlapp with a series of wild strikes but Zlapp uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Testament throws a right and a left that both miss. Testament tries for a takedown but Zlapp sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Moses Testament seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Testament gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Zlapp throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Zlapp landing some decent shots from guard. Zlapp throws a big right hand that misses. Testament is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Zlapp is aware though and is defending well. Testament escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zlapp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Testament working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Zlapp. Zlapp is looking to work some ground and pound but Testament has wrist control. Zlapp got a little sloppy there for a moment and Testament has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zlapp has managed to get both his arms back between Testament's legs - danger averted. Testament is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Zlapp is aware though and is defending well. Testament has his foot on Zlapp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zlapp works his way back into a safe position though. Zlapp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Testament is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zlapp defends well. Zlapp cracks Testament with a solid left hand. Testament pushes a forearm under Zlapp's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Zlapp is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Moses Testament! A pretty intense looking Moses Testament took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
