Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyell Gold! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sonny Hills! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hills moves into range and clinches up with Gold. Gold tries to score a body lock takedown but Hills shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Gold jumps guard but Hills turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Gold is working for takedown but Hills is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyell Gold. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gold looking for a takedown. Hills is defending well against a takedown attempt. Gold pulls Hills into guard.
Hills stays in close to Gold's body and controls the position. Hills is fighting to break Gold's control of his arms but Gold is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Gold escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hills gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gold has an active guard here but Hills has managed to pass into half guard.

Gold wants to improve his position but Hills is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gold looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hills trying to mount his opponent but Gold defends it. Gold has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hills is working away from the top position though. Hills is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hills is working for a kimura but Gold is defending it quite comfortably.
Gold tries to get to full guard but Hills has control of the leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gold controlling the position well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hills is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Gold actively working from the bottom here. Hills keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gold is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kyell Gold will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gold gets tackled into the cage by Hills. Hills maintains the clinch. Hills tightens his grip and picks Gold up, before dumping him to the ground. Gold manages to land in guard. Gold is adopting a defensive guard. Hills controlling from the top position. Hills postures up.
Hills throwing strikes from guard but Gold blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hills pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gold is keeping the position for now. Hills wants to control from the top but Gold keeps moving. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hills looking to score a takedown here. Gold is defending well but Hills drives through and ends up in Gold's guard. Gold is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hills defends well. Gold working a defensive guard but Hills passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hills wants to control but Gold is keeping him busy. Gold is positioning himself well to prevent Hills advancing to mount. Hills looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gold makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gold. Gold has control of Hills's left arm, preventing Hills from doing any damage. Gold throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hills escapes and throws Gold's legs to the side, diving into side control! Gold tries to bench press Hills off him but Hills keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hills happy to just control the position for now. Hills working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hills sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Gold is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hills wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gold keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sonny Hills showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Gold shoots in for a takedown but Hills shows good takedown defense. Hills drives through with a takedown into Gold's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Hills must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hills tries to free his leg and advance position but Gold is retaining full guard. Gold controls Hills momentarily but Hills frees himself. Gold looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Gold being controlled here, momentarily. Gold escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hills gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gold is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hills is aware though and is defending well. Gold looking to control.
Gold will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gold looking for a sweep. Not yet Gold, not yet. Gold pulls Hills in to control the position. Hills wants to control from the top but Gold keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hills looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gold keeping full guard, as Hills tries to pass. Sonny Hills has got the better of the ground game so far. Gold has control of Hills's left arm, preventing Hills from doing any damage. Hills wants to pass the guard but Gold is keeping the position. Gold is trying to control the position but Hills postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kyell Gold. Gold fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hills tries to close the distance and clinch but Gold swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gold shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gold is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hills is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hills has escaped and now he's on top! Hills passes Gold's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hills looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Gold wants to improve his position but Hills is controlling well.
Gold is trying to maintain the position but Hills is very close to passing his half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gold is looking to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Sonny Hills. Well Hills has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
